an ipod touch...to be honest with a budget like that there are loads of things but a lot depends on what he already has...playstation have today bought out the new need for speed game...I think its about £30.00 that will be on my 12 year olds list...some vouchers for itunes...clothing vouchers like animal or similar..something car/top gear related..not looked but they usually have a dvd out..we tend to go for a few smaller presents rather than one big one and do a bit of a stocking with some smellies..hair gel...chocolate...a book...
frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

    2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend
  • ipod/mobile phone Ebay have some good Christmas deals at the moment. If i only had £200 to spend i don't know if i would spend it all on a netbook. What about clothes?

  • £200 is more than enough - maybe some computer games? Or maybe a bike?

£200 is more than I've ever spent on one of my kids at Christmas ever. (mine are 22 and 15)

What does he want? By 12 they usually have their own ideas.

My son used to do me lists totalling about £3000 worth of goods :D and I would pick from that. (He knew both my budget, and my bargain hunting skills!)

His birthday is in September and hers is in February so sometimes we combined Christmas and Birthday if they wanted something really expensive.

Sometimes we have clubbed together with other relatives.

Sometimes what they really really want has been out of our reach. When this has happened we have given them an IOU for cold hard cash which they can get their hands on to buy the desired object as soon as they have saved up the difference. (Sometimes the difference had shrunk to very little when the sales started.)

I would be guided by the child so long as they weren't being unreasonable.

If they are being unreasonable then they're old enough for a reality check.

Can they afford it if Mum and all the relatives give a cash equivalent instead of a present? If not it's probably an unreasonable request.

£200...very limited budget? on what planet?, i'll move there today :D

Seriously, thats a lot of money to spend on 1 child. I have less than that to go round 4 kids.

Now i'm off to pack my bags and furniture in preparation of moving to this lovely new planet :rotfl:
