Fashion advice

Hey all :)

Me again, sure you're nearly sick looking at me :rotfl:
I would love to be a trendy/fashionable person, unfortunately I never have been and not sure where to start so need advice.

I have just bought a new dress, have a pic of it here http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m539/bratz_81/images.jpg

So, I'm hoping to wear this going out some evenings, to the pub and such...but what if I also wanted to wear it out during the day? I know it's winter so can't wear it by itself.
Do you think it would look nice with a plain t-shirt underneath? I have grey/white/black long sleeve and red/brown short sleeve.
Or with a cardigan just?

And would it be ok with tights and boots? Flat black knee high boots, or mid calf ugg-style boots?

I'm hopeless I know :o

  • Pretty dress, bratz :)
I think the halterneck effect could be lost if you layered it over a top, so do you have a thick enough cardi to just wear that over the dress?
I think it would look great with boots, or equally with heels if you have / wear them.

thanks :) not often I wear dresses everyday, but since I've spent money on something I want to get my wear out of it!
Was thinking that about the halterneck not being a pretty. I don't have thick thick cardigans, medium thickness more, but if I'm inside, say at work that shouldn't matter much, right?

  • oh yeah if you're at work that should be ok :) i thought you meant out..but i guess with a cardi and a coat you'd be fine, and a cute scarf or something if it's chilly :)

Out, it's going to be a sort of shrug cardi thing I have, but it's not something you could wear to say work, or out for a day of shopping :)

  • I'm sure it will look fab :)
  • yes i have similar dresses and wear them anywhere with heels (have worn flats with them too) and with black tights and a short normal length cardi. I wouldnt wear boots with it as it is 50's style. What about some mid heel courts?

I'd avoid a shrug cardi. I'd go for a chunky oversized style you can snuggle into. Very "in" at the moment. Shrugs are very dated now and work much better in the summer.

Boots would look great. I'd go for leather knee highs. I would avoid court shoes cos the dress is a little summery, and courts could start to look a bit 1980s (not in a good way). Unless they are very high concealed platforms.

Its a lovely dress. I would play on the 1940/1950s aspect a little. Maybe add a dash of red?
  • you should wear it with heels or boots either way it will look really good :-) also a long or short caridgen will look really nice. Nice dress :-)
