Jobcentre 3 step plan, need some advice please

Hello everyone.
Sorry if this is a bit long but i am a little confused.
This 3 step plan seems to me that it is used just to twist things.
Next wednesday is my 13 week session and i got to take my 3 step plan with me. This has come quicker than i thought.
I am confused in what to put down. As whatever i will write i have a feeling that what they're gonna ask me is that why didn't you do this before?
So is this 3 step plan just to remind me of what i gotta do and what i agreed to in the begining or do i have to add new things to it?
I can't see what other approaches i can do as i do them all as far as i can see. phone, email, letters, face to face. any other ideas???
I really don't know what to put down on the
Things I Will Do In The Next Month To Help Me Get A Job
1, 2 & 3.
so what do i put here? charity work? send my cv to jobsite etc? what will be my 3rd point? find better email and letter application templates?
see i dont know what to put incase they say i havent done enough previously.
any ideas? can anyone give me an example of theirs?
also when i went to the back to work session the one who spoke to us said to get a job even if we dont like it. now i'm stressed enough now going to the jobcentre let alone work somewhere i wont like or don't get on with people there. and while we have the job we can still jobsearch, thats gonna drive me mental! How do i get around this and what do i say?
I've been pulling my hair out looking for a flat to live recently to get away from my parents and not being able to find one suitable (ie not affordable) , so that drove me bonkers enough, i got a flat now though waiting for the carpets to be put down.
I don't want to be in the wrong job and stressing out to find the right one at the same time. wouldnt that just make people ill if people started to do things they dont want to do?
please help as i do want a job that is right for me, getting the right job would then not put me on JSA in the future. plus i need to keep any funds in the near future to help me live on when i move for a happier life and maybe i will be more confident.
thanks a lot
Amy

Hi Amy,
As you say you live with your parents, I'm assuming you are quite young (Apologies if I'm wrong!). Could your Connexions adviser help with coming up with things for your 13-week plan?
Also, have you had a guidance session to see which jobs you might be suited for? That might be a good one if you are looking for somewhere to start.Credit Card - £300 Overdraft - £2000.

Why can't you look for the work you want whilst you do some work you hate? Most people hate their jobs. If you do not want to partake in society then do not take its benefits.
It is in your interest to get stuck in with a day job. Of course, it looks rubbish - but that is the easiest and most common way for people to progress and escape.0 -
Hello, thanks for the replies. yes still live with parents at the moment, i'm not too young i'm 25 so i'm not on the under 25's.
i've done work and look for a job before, it just didnt work for me, i got lazy in jobsearching thats why i have ended up on jobseekers again.
when i was working i was in another flat and when i come home i was doing the housework, have a shower, have time to myself, i was tired coming home as it is(my other half is still in work when i come home), it was something like 6pm when i came home, 8am start. wondering if i will get paid by christmas and needed money for essentials.
i just don't want to go through all that again. i was then quite stressed to lose my job as i got ill while i was working in somewhere i didnt want to be.
hense what i am on about it really wont be that good for me to do that again.
and at this time of year and moving i just cannot afford to work and wait for the payday in a months time. i wish i could but i just can't. Travel, lunch, shopping, bills and rent, council tax the last jsa before work wont even cover half of this.(this will have to be for 2 people as my partner and i are joint claim and if one comes off the other will to as far as i can understand..
any ideas with what i can write down on that plan will be great ta very much.0 -
The jobcentre certainly make you jump through hoops at times to satisfy their criteria.
I haven't been through the 3 step plan, but surely if you print off say applications from the internet and a copy of your c.v. that will be enough?0 -
Hiya
A few ideas that come to mind off the top of my head. How about:
Signing up with a couple of local agencies.
Working on a new version of your CV.
Sending some on spec letters and CVs to companies you'd like to work for (whether they are advertising or not)
Taking a course at night school (some colleges start new courses in January)
Asking for some work experience at a company that is in the field you'd like to work in.
When you're going through hell, keep going...0 -
At the moment it sounds like you need a bit of focus Amy. You've been clear that you know the jobs that you don't like - so which jobs do you like?
If you are struggling to find the answer to that one, you might benefit from speaking to a NextStep adviser about what types of jobs you might be suited for.
And while I can sympathise with coming home feeling knackered and not knowing if you can pay bills from month to month - that's the way it is unfortunately. Nobody's going to hand it to you, you've got to grit your teeth and get on.
If the initial period between going off benefits and getting your first pay packet is a problem, you could go for a job that pays weekly - most minimum wage jobs do that. You would then only have to wait two weeks to get some money, and in that time, couldn't you borrow a few quid off parents? I'm sure they would understand.
Just remember, these things from the jobcentre are designed to get you a job. That is always the end goal. When thinking of things for your 3-step plan think, "Will this help me get a job?" If the answer is yes, then include it.Credit Card - £300 Overdraft - £2000.

If you write this, they will be fine. It's not there to trip you up or anything, it's genuinely to make you think about your job search and anything more you could be doing.
It might also be worth actually considering doing the above, not just writing it down on your 3 step plan if you are struggling to find work.0
