Tax refund

Not sure if this is the right place, if not please feel free to move it.

Had a letter yesterday from the Inland Revenue saying I'd overpaid my tax. Now, when this has happened in the past, there's been a cheque for the amount overpaid with it. Not this time.... Oh, no! I have to phone them to reclaim it ... on an 0845 number.

This is just disgraceful.

There are plenty of numbers under 'Inland Revenue' in https://www.saynoto0870.com I think.

Looks like its because its only a small amount overpaid.

Just phoned, spoke to a very nice lady who explained that it now gets referred to another dept who perform security checks and then, in about two weeks, I get my money....

Still disgraceful. All this unnecessary bureaucracy....
