Interesting, isn't it, how many people haven't seen the banner that's supposed to be so prominent. Maybe that's because it's hidden away inside the forums instead of being put where it should also be - on the main homepage.
Do you get the impression this is being hidden away because it's going to hit the financial standing of the website?0 -
Thanks - got 2 emails - and was on my list to look at later - usually very aware of fake emails but missed completely - banner note less than useless - perhaps add to the title of this thread - virus email from MSE.0

Some of us don't come into the site via the home page every time. I have this page as one of the permanent tabs on my browser, so come straight to it.
I do agree that the banner could have been a little more prominent - perhaps a bit bigger
I haven't had one of these emails (yet)0 -
saw the warning thanks to this thread and recieved an email today.

Given the MSE statement "We think that only forummers who joned before Dec 2009 will be receiving these emails, as they relate to a breach in the past." shouldn't we all be asking why we weren't told about this previous security breach?
That would at least have warned people that their passwords and email addresses hadn't been securely held, and had been compromised. It would also have lessened the chances of people being caught out this time round.
If you've used the same password as your MSE password anywhere else (and particularly for your MSE email account) it might be time to make some changes. :mad:0 -
Another one who missed it, thank you0
