Try laying bricks on a building site on the side of a mountain in the depths of January then.

There are far worse jobs than what you are describing.

Or building a road near the channel with the wind howling across you with nothing between you and France. I'd have killed for a small office when I was in construction. Going to work each day with bubble wrap in your boots; not TOO much of a laugh.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
  • Thank you so much to those with contructive comments and whilst the hostile ones surprised me as I understood this to be a forum where people tried to help each other - I do hope it makes you feel better attacking me & I genuinely hope you never find yourself in a similar position. I'm sure it will keep you warm laughing about others misfortune whilst you do the construction job I assume you chose?

I appreciate I'm lucky to have a job at all, I'm just devastated I am being forced to do a job I never applied for, I'm trying to make a stand against the giant corporate machine riding roughshod against the little employee.

You should have paid attention at school and got a proper job then!

    Aren't Brickies quite well paid?

Whilst it is really bad what has happened this is the risk of moving jobs whether it is in the private or public sector. I still think you would be better of doing the job whilst looking for another position yourself, do not expect anyone else to get you out of the mess.

  • If we cut through all the cack here you have limited options I think..

    1. you stay of sick until they decide to get OH in an declare you unfit for work and med sev you
    2. you tough it out until they find something else
    3. you find a new job somewhere else and put this behind you as a bad experience and get on with living your life.

It may not be what you want to hear but Its all ive got.

This may sound harsh, but it is how it appears to me, if this job change got you on pills and signed off with depresion after doing it for a week it maybe that there were underlying issues and this was the trigger. Maybe look at it that at least, if nothign else, you will have sorted that out now.

    G
One day some company will do what they say they will do and charge a fair charge.:T

Not doing the opposite of that which they promise and charge you a fortune for the privileged. :(

    Or maybe not:mad:

But how would all the offices for those with 'proper jobs' get built without any builders?
  • What does your employment contract say your role and responsibilities are?

Nothing wrong with construction! It's the oldest profession...
