pre-lit tree vs normal artificial tree?

we're looking to purchase our first full size (6ft) christmas tree and i can't decide whether to stick with a normal artificial one or go for one of these pre-lit/led trees that are becoming more popular.
anyone got any thoughts or experiences in this regard?
( a real tree does not appeal and is not a road i will be going down, although i appreciate this works for some people)

I love my pre-lit tree, we got it from B&Q last year for £25. It's a lovely 5ft tree with tons of lights. So much easier than putting your own on and the hassle of tidying them away again afterwards.0

we had 2 trees
normal/artificial, and a pre lit fibre optic thingy
for ease, the pre lit is great
if you want what looks like a traditional tree, faffing with the lights on a normal artificial one is the only way to go
they are nice pre lit, but i dont think look quite the same0 -
personally i think it takes all the fun out it for me anyway but i do understand that it is a good idea, i saw them at b&q the other day and they do look nice, if it means less hassle for you then go for it, it is your christmas after all xx:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

I had a pre lit tree a few years ago but personally I think a normal artificial tree with lights looks better.:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0

I guess it would depend on whether you prefer spending ages trying to get it just right or whether you want it to be done quickly. I prefer the first option because it makes it more enjoyable to me but then prelit would be good for other smaller rooms of the house I think.0

my hubby wants a pre lit tree, i can see the point, but imo they never have enough lights. i have about 400 lights on our 7ft tree and would have more but i do need to leave room for tinsel and dec's,lol.0

we have always added our own lights. Its the hardest part of decorating but its worth it, saying that we have looked at pre light this yr as we need to replace the tree and it seems cheaper to buy a tree with led lights than seperate!:xmastree: :rudolf: :xmastree:0

if i'm honest that's the main reason why i'm even entertaining the idea, it's such a faff putting lights on.
We looked at some trees yesterday and all the prelit ones we saw were rather sparsly lit to say the leastknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
I love our 6ft pre-lit tree which we bought from Asda. It has lots of lights on it but because they are static, I add a set of flashing lights as well. Once the baubles and other decorations have been added, it looks fab.0
