well done!
im trying to get my debt down i owe about £3,000, its hard as have family and 2 kids, i think the thing that really messed me up was overpayment from tax credits as gave me a false sense of money i was entitled too, so spent more, tax credits realised my award was wrong........
well done again....i will be debt free, i will0 -
Daydreamer- you are doing fantastically well, with that level of determination I bet you will become debt free quicker than 2009!0

Daydreamer,
What an amazingly inspiring story. I wish I had found this site before I sold my flat to get out of debt (I miss it), It would have taken longer but I would have still had my home.
Seeing your story has made me realise that I could have done it without selling my flat, I was only £27,000 in debt. But I went for the swift resolution instead of the hard-work one! I have learnt my lesson though and am now on track with a fully functional budget and 7 piggybanks!
Well done and keep going, by the time you are my age you will be sorted, and will probably even have a deposit for your own home. :T"Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it." (Montgomery, L.M.(1908). Anne of Green Gables.)

well done daydreamer - I know how it feels when you are at THAT LOW POINT! I've been there. I know that you may get wound up or annoyed by your parents especially as you had to move home like I had to for a while but without them where would we be?
£21,000 in a year - thats more than my wages. I take my hat off to you mate. keep up the good work and kepp us uppdated on your fantastic progress😁0 -
Well done daydreamer.
I found you story very very similar to mine. Been in debt since I was 18, I'm 27 now and have got nothing to show for it. Live back with parents which is ok as they are cool.
Like you said one of the hardest things I find is not going out with my friends any more, I really enjoy being out and meeting new people and I do miss that a lot!
Sorry if I'm being nosey but are you on a DMP with anyone, it just looks to me like your not which I find interesting because neither am I. I have a huge amount of debt but I know I can just about manage each month and I figure some other person needs more help than me at the present moment.
Keep up the good work mate

Wow !!
Great post - we all need to encourage eachother and this post will raise the spirits of lots of DFWs.
Good luck to you !!Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -
On the going out thing, I found that once I became an MSE'er I never bought a round of drinks again

Best thing to do if you do have the odd night out is to drink something before you go out, and only take a tenner with you for the entire night. That'l buy you enough drinks to last then thats your lot. It amazing how quickly you adjust to it and wonder what the point of spending 100 quid a night really was.
I'm the same age and you can have fun without spending money, even in London
