Because they don't get as hot as a caserole in the oven you don't end up with the dried ring round the side where the liquid level was. Mine's always been well easy to clean
Definatly get one with a glass lid though becuase just like with a breadmaker you can't help but wonder what's happening in there. Think about shape too, are you likely to be putting a chicken or leg of lamb in it? Some are longer so they fit those in easier I think.0 -
Found the 48710 at tesco for £28.99 inc del, but the bigger 1 is cheaper.
Think the 3.5l will be big enough for us, 700g is alot of meat in this house!!
Will find a tesco e code to bring price down.
Really getting into this money saving lark.JAN Grocery Challange £200

we bought a Delonghi one the other week from Robert Dyas, it's a 5 litre one, was £39.99 but they had it for £19.99, even though there's only 3 of us I just preferred having the bigger one for when we have people staying so we always knew we had space(or for doing bigger meat joints) that said I've consistently overestimated so far! sausage casserole last night....mmmmm!0

I've got the tefal 3 in 1 slow, rice cooker and steamer £35 at costco...absolutley brilliant. Has a timer which is very useful as after cooking it has a keep warm facility. I use the rice cooker a lot as well.
The recipes are a bit dull in the booklet but I find that any casserole recipe works well in it.
On the Morphy richards website you can download the instruction manuals to get an idea of instructions, recipes for the crock pot. I recently ordered my friend a replacement lid for a broken crock pot. You can get all replacement parts from this site.0 -
frizz_head wrote:The one in Asda is the Morphy Richards 48710, in stainless steel, and its enormous. I bought it 4 weeks ago, and haven't use it yet!!! I am determined not to let this languish in the cupboard (along with the breadmaker) so does anyone have any good (simple) recipes. I am confused, as I have been told that you don't need to use much stock, as the cooking process does not evaporate any excess fluid - unlike oven casserole cooking. I do Delias Beef in Beer regularly, but how do I adapt it for the Slow Cooker.
Slow cooker recipes have been discussed and posted on the money saving old style board. See link below :

I managed to buy a Prima 3.5 litre PSO35 model at a larger branch of Boots just the other day.
This model doesn't have the cool walls like the more expensive ones but as I am alone with no kids to worry about that is fine.
It does have low/high/auto settings with a glass lid and removable crock pot all for the sum of £14.99. I have tried it out and it works a treat, a real bargain.

Whats hard about cleaning this ? Providing you oiled it well prior to using it is a doddle to clean, unplug, then whilst it is still warm wet a kitchen (long handled ) brush and just wipe between the grooves dry with kitchen paper 10 secs and the job is done. You live..You learn.:)0
