Joint loans. Help needed please!!
Hi all
I'm hoping someone can advise me with my situation. My partner and I need a loan. This is to consilidate a loan (in her name) credit cards and to pay for our wedding next year.
My partner has an excellent credit rating and has never had any late payments or anything. I, on the other hand, have had a few problems in the past with late payments but have been ok for about 2 years.
We need to borrow £16500. What I really need to know is that will adding me to application help or will it lessen our chances of getting the loan? My partner would not probably not get the loan on her own as she earns £18000 a year and they would probably say she couldn't afford the loan. (We want to pay it off in 3-4 years.) I earn £21000 a year but I have recently been turned down for a loan when I tried to get it on my own.
Sorry for the long post but I do not want to keep applying and getting turned down.
Any help would be greatly appriciated.

maybe an idea to apply where her current loan is, with her first named, you second for the income
worth checking your credit file0 -
Hi, thanks for your reply. Will they credit check both of us? What worries me is that they will take one look at me credit history and turn us down.0

Yes they will always credit score any parties to a loan0

Ok, thanks for your help. Do you think adding me to application will help towards acceptance or would she be better off applying on her own.
Thanks again for your help.0 -
Like you said before - it willbe down to affordability on her part0
