Enquiries after mortgage offer

Hi
Very concerned - we have had a mortgage offer for 3 weeks and are within 2 of exchanging. Yesterday, OH gets a phone call from lender asking her to verify some basic details. Apparently the person said several times 'we're not pulling out' but would not offer a reason for the further checks.
Surely if they were categorically happy to lend to us, they wouldn't be ferreting around still?
We supplied them with totally accurate information at time of application. I'm now at the point where I have to assess whether I want to enter a binding contract to buy a property, with 10% of the purchase price at risk, where I'm reliant on a 3rd party that seemingly hasn't made their mind up yet. I understand that lenders can always pull out but this is hugely unsettling.
Has anyone else experienced this or can someone with experience in the industry advise?

Case may have been selected for a random audit.
Did you apply direct or through a broker?
Did you supply evidence of income, i.e wage slips?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Random audit. Happened to a friend of mine recently when they were buying - all went through fine. Providing all the information you have provided is accurate it will probably be fine. Just a bit of pain with the delay. Friends one took a week.0

Hope there isn't a delay! They haven't told us there is.
We supplied 3 months x wage slips, 3 months x bank statement, P60, multiple proofs of address. Applied via broker.0 -

It could be that the case was 'fast tracked' which means they will not request proof of income.
Call to you will be to verify the income figures and to ensure they match those declared.
Your broker has the proof of income available should it be requested so there is no problem from your point of view, assuming the broker put the correct details on the application.
Don't worry about it.
