Surely likely questions would be along the lines of "Have you dealt with the general public in any previous roles..." or "What would you do if a customer kicked off...".
  • From googling Barclays cashier interview questions:

    http://www.kent.ac.uk/careers/interviews/ivbanking.htm

I would expect there to be a question about why someone with a masters is going for an entry level job and what career expectations they have.

I've worked for them in one of their call centres. Personally I hated it [there's a couple of posts explaining why kicking about on this forum], but I guess a job is a job.

Regardless of what the questions actually ASK, what they're really looking for is sales accumen. Everybody, from call centre agents to cashiers to branch managers have sales targets to hit, and these vary in difficulty from role to role, or even from branch to branch.

Assuming your friend is applying for the role of cashier, 'sales through service' is a major theme. i.e., someone comes in to order a new chequebook, but you need to somehow work out how you can refer them to have an appointment with a senior colleague for a full financial review.

Should point out that I worked for Barclays donkeys years ago, which is why I'm comfortable 'naming and shaming'. They don't even feature on my CV, it was that long ago and the job was relatively short-lived. Also, my experience with them is somewhat out of date, and things might have changed, but knowing them so well, I doubt it :(

Because Barclays actually pay decently as opposed to most positions open to master grads.

To the OP - Expect questions on people handling, self management, planning, ability to work in a team and individually, worst/ best scenarios, career expectations in 5/ 10 years time, money management, expectations of the role, skills, what you can add to the company, what you know about them. Behavioural type questions are the norm along with competency testing.
The only thing we know for sure, is that we know nothing
