Realised today I need to sort myself out!!!!

Hi everyone.

Well, today I've finally realised I need to sort out my finances.

I went to my bank today to check my balance and realised due to missed direct debits, I've been charge £140 by the bank.

To be honest, it was switching jobs and not planning my finances correctly that had caused the problems, though this charge really has left me stuck this month.

I currently have £7000 on an Egg Credit Card and £7500 on a Virgin Card. Adding to my debt is my overdraft from Barclays which is £2770, totalling to £17,270 .

Even seeing this figure on this post, frightens the life out of me as both credit cards are at their limit.

I've missed a few payments in the past though I'm having to call Egg tonight to agree a payment for the end of the month.

I've finally decided that I've had enough of being in debt and it's now a mission to clear this.

I go to a lot of gigs, I play many video games and I play drums which will all need to be cut seriously to achieve my goal.

I've been contacted by Vincent Bond and Co to set up a DMP, though judging by the stories I've read on this forum, I'm now considering to take the bull by the horns and try to do this on my own.

I've set up new current account with HSBC to have my wage paid into. I'm going to contact my Credit Card companies to try to negotiate a payment plan as I'm getting very close to missing payments and I'm now doing overtime and callout to make the additional income to pay these back.

Any other info would be brilliant to help or any guidance would be very greatful.

Thanks!!!

Tone:j

Hi and welcome to the forum. Firstly do not go to one of the companies who charge for a DMP if you decide to go down that route there are many charity ones that will do this for free. See the link at the top of the page.

A good place to start is to complete a SOA (link at top of forum) where you list all your incomings and outgoings and this will give you a good starting point for clearing your debt.

Well done on making the first step and keep posting :D
