National Book Tokens advice needed please

Options
I have a £50 National Book Token. I know it can be used in Waterstones and WH Smith to buy books but does anyone know if I can use it to buy non-books such as DVD's, computer games, calendars etc? I've searched the web but can't find the answer. Any help gratefully received. Thanks.

I think they have to be books, but look at the whsmith threads and you will find the buy two books and get a £10 WHS voucher. Some of the books are only £4.99 , so you could spend them and get wsh vouchers instead and have a heap of free books

What can a National Book Token be exchanged for?
National Book Tokens make the perfect gift for book lovers of all ages as they can be exchanged for all kinds of books from the best selling new fiction to reference and school textbooks as well as maps.

Thanks for the replies both. From what I've read online it appears to be hit n miss if they will accept NBT's for other items although it does say it's for books only. I begrudge paying full price for books when they are readily available at discount prices elsewhere but having read the WH Smith thread I will definitely be going in tomorrow to check out the offers. It's very easy to spend £50 on books after all!

when you go in why don't you ask if it can be used on anything else.
  • Having worked for Waterstone's I can tell you you CAN use the NBT for other non-book items! We used to get kids just buying Top Trumps because they "didn't read books"!
