hi I have been asked to stand down as manager at work and take on a assistant manager role, I have not received any warnings or had a yearly job chat.
i have been told by my employer that i have to take a large pay cut is this legally correct?
Any help or suggestions of sites to look at would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your help.

Income has declined and apparently I am not very diplomatic with staff. They have asked me to stand down and assist another Manager or relocate to another branch and be manager of a small branch.
In my initial meeting I was told my money would be not be touched. Now I have been told It will be if I stay at my existing Branch. Nothing was put in writing to state that my money would be touched and I haven't resigned my current position in writing only verbally on the basis that my money wouldn't be changed.Regards,

They cannot legally force you however if you decline they would be well allowed to start formal discliplinary processes for poor performance which would ultimately lead to dismissal if you didnt improve - and dependent on the performance it might be immediate dismissal.
The Assistant manager role/smaller shop route I suspect is them trying to avoid a long term discliplinary/performance management situation and may well be in your own best interests as it could be you survive 6 months but are then dismissed if you dont.0 -
To be honest I would be taking it as a big hint that they do not think you are good enough. I wouldn't accept the assistant manager role because it would look aweful on the CV that you dropped down the ladder but I would be looking to move company ASAP.The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

i was told i could stay as manager but would be put on a management review and set targets and if i did not meet them i would then face disciplinary action and then the sack.
i feel that they are bullying me into either take large pay cut and become an assistant manager or travel 20 miles to a smaller shop and be on my current wage?Regards,

It's hardly bullying. Its them simply not wanting the hassle of a management/discliplinary situation as well as reduced takings in that shop whilst it happens.
Its your choice but the fact is they arent doing this because you are performing well. There isnt a good outcome here unless you dramatically improve.0 -
As above, its not bullying if you are not doing the job adequately enough and it seems they have had complaints from other members of staff about your behaviour.
They have outlaid the options available to you.
Personally I would move branch and look for another job ASAP.The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

No - they are not bullying you!
It's called 'Managing you'.
Either step up to the mark, increase turnover and stop being undiplomatic; or take one of their options or get another job.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0
