i was in hobbycraft last week and didn't check

i didn't even think to look at argos for a dummy! it is still expensive but not as much as some we have seen. thankyou :j

I would wait before buying a mannequin they are not the most important thing needed for sewing. Most dressmakers sew for years before treating themselves and your sister getting her own sewing machine is more of a priority.

  • Wentom i have Pootle's book on loan from the library - I have re-issued it twice now <blush>
i love Sew-Hip magazine, it has a nice range of big & small projects and has quite a young feel to it.

I also bought a magazine from a large WHSmith last week called "Teach yourself to sew, THREADS special edition" It is an American import, cost £4.45 but not as good as the book above. Just mentioned it because it has a tutorial for making your own body form dummy by wrapping yourself in gaffer tape.
  • Home Bargains have a sewing box/basket for around £5, if you want a traditional looking one.
Try The Book People for sewing books, I got one for my niece from them last year. (Go through Quidco for cash-back)
