Credit File and Loan

Hi All,

Back in 2002 i got a loan with Welcome Finance and started paying it off monthly for about a year. IT was over 3 years i believe.

After a year i was made jobless and notified welcome finance that i couldn't pay etc and they said they will look into it as i had paid insurance etc.

Never heard anything back until about a year ago where a debt recovery agency phoned and said that i owe the money. I stupidly paid £100.00 off over the phone. If i didn't then it would have been statatory barred this year....

THey are chasing. Is there anything i can do?

On another note i am refusing to pay at the moment as there is an error on my credit file.

The default date is sayign 2006 but the actaul information and the first default letter i recieved is in 2004.

So does the credit report have to show the first date i defaulted?

I contacted roxbourogh who said:

Paul,

I do thank you for the paperwork that you sent, it is appreciated. Further to the question posed with regards the wrong default date, I am sorry to tell you that the date we have on file is correct. It is true that in the event that there are several defaults in the life of a credit account, one would take the most recent default and apply that to one’s credit file.

Any questions please do not hesitate to drop a line, or give me a call.

Can i ask for the evidence at all and if they can't provide it then they can change it? or will they just make a fake letteR?

Thanks for the advice....
