Think I have just lost a whole load of Points !

I got a Tesco Credit Card (mastercard) last month in a bid to increase my points. I checked with Customer Service when I got it and understood that I would continue to get my one point per pound on my blue clubcard and then get additional points when I paid with my credit card.

When I visit Tesco I have been giving them my blue card and then paying with my credit card. Today a lady told me I should only have been using the credit card and that because I gave them the blue card first I will only get the standard points and no extra credit card ones.

Is this true ? Is there anyway I can get them added ?

not 100% sure about the answer, but for the future I would forget about the blue card and use only your mastercard as your club card, if you're paying with it you don't need to hand it over during the swiping of barcodes but if you're using cash/debit card then hand it over when the operator starts swiping

and reuse your old plastic bags for extra points!

Take your receipts to the Customer service desk and ask if they can change the points. I usually use my debit card to pay, then give my Tesco credit card for the points (I think you have about 50% more than using the blue points card alone) - but you get double points if you PAY on the Tesco card(I think).

Hi I was told by C/S I would, like you, get the clubcard points if I presented the clubcard & then the extra points if I paid with my mastercard.

Fingers crossed then, the lady noticed today and the receipt I had for a £9.95 spend showed only 9 points.

Tescos clubcard points are very confusing, but I think if the cards are tied together (you can ring CS if they aren't already) then you can just hand over the credit card and you should get all the points.

You get the normal points from what you would have spent on the blue clubcard, then you get additional points (not many, its just the difference between the 4 points per £1 (from the blue card) and 5 points per £1 (what they say you get from spending on the credit card - but this includes the 4 normal points that you would have got - sorry if the rates are wrong, I'm just giving this as an example)

You can see if they are tied because the bottom bit of your receipt will say something like "points balance xxx , total includes tpf bonus points xx, and green clubcard points xx" (TPF - tesco personal finance)

Even if they are not tied, you should still get the bonus points from the credit card, but I think they come in a separate mailing from your normal clubcard ones.

Tescos clubcard points certainly are very confusing !

I have called them and a lovely man has made my cards atied together and as you say I can just hand over the credit card and get all the points.

He says all my points are now coming in the one mailing in Dec and none are lost.

I thought it was best not to have them tied then you will get two mailings with two lots of bonus clubcard vouchers.

my cards are tied so i can see at the bottom of each receipt the points accrued - finance points are stated separately so you will still be getting the extra points
