Sole Trader Accounts For Mortgage Purposes

Keeping in mind that I'm going to need my business accounts to apply for a mortgage sometime in the future, what form do the accounts need to take??
At the moment I just have the profit & loss and balance sheet produced with Sage by my bookkeeper.
Is this good enough? Do my accounts have to be varified by an accountant? What should I ask for?
Any other advice?
Thanks

Submit your accounts to Inland Revenue and request a SA302 form from them. This will show your figures.
You will need 3 years accounts to access most lenders.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
