Anyone work for AQA?

Hi all, first post ever!

Just wondered if anyone here works as a home researcher for AQA.

I have just applied and think I stand a very good chance but just wondered if anyone who works for them could tell me a little of how the system works.

I need the extra cash to support my girlfriend and baby thats due on New Years Eve.

I will post my SOA later today.

Thanks

Paul Winterman

  • Hi

I work for them, and so do a few other people on here. Not sure what you want to know but basically once you have had your induction you can log on whenever you like and answer questions to earn money. You can do as much or as little as you like, whenever you like. The programme that you answer them through is quite sophisticated and gives you a selection of possible answers based on keywords in the question. It also keeps track of how many you have answered, how long you have been online and your average answer rate etc. Post any more questions here and I'll try to help.
  • Thanks for the info.

What does the induction entail? Do you do it from home?

I am very confident that my answers / grammar / spelling were correct that I sent them yesterday. Hopefully I will here something soon.

They didn't send me a reply to confirm they have received my answers though. Should they have?

  • Hi Paul

The induction is conducted over Yahoo instant messenger and takes about half an hour if memory serves me. Before this you will have been sent a fairly hefty document on the answer policy and the necessary downloads, and you will have to download the programme. The induction then takes you through how to use the system. Once you have done this you are free to start, and can answer 30 questions in your own time. Once you have done this you contact your senior researcher and they will review your answers before you can get started again.

I cant remember if I got an acknowledgement, but don't worry, I'm sure they'll be in touch shortly. I think all the recruitment is done by one person so she's probably snowed under with applications.
  • Thanks again.

Sorry to be a pain, but one last question.

How do they pay you, is it direct to your bank account. Obviously I need to be (and am already) registered as self employed, so I assume you handle your own tax returns etc...

That's right, they pay you direct to your bank account for the previous month and you have to self-assess for tax and NI.
