    A few points andy777 raises.

I know the job ads you refer to "focussed individuals" "deal closers" etc

I would not work for anybody with that ethos.

I do not "sell" mortgages. I want people to "buy" mortgages from me. There is a subtle difference. I give people the best possible advice I can as that is all I can do, and tell people to go and get advice from as many sources as they wish. If I have done a good job then I get the business, simple as that, if the prospective client goes elsewhere then that spurs me on to try even harder.

It's an old sales adage I know, but people buy people. Like most brokers on here, if you are open and honest then the business comes to you, not the other way round as clients refer you to other people if the service they have received has been good.

Look at the brokers who do post here for a minute. Not one of them works for a "mortgage sausage factory" I bet. They wouldn't have the time. Most of them are like me and have many satisfied clients referring them to friends. If they know the answer to a posters problem they freely point them in the right direction spending some considerable time doing so. The big corporate boys wouldn't bother as they have the next big deal to "close".

    Regards
