Looks like common sense has prevailed in the end. Long way to go yet, but I think one of the most difficult hurdles has now been cleared.....
In a few years time we might be looking back on this and asking why we didn't do it ages ago........
Waiting for the vociferous opposition to start. Funny how the minority always speaks louder than the majority, but then that's what makes life interesting
In reality no-one really knows what the majority actually think .... parliament may be representative and so could opinion polls, but the only real way to know where the majority lies would be a referendum, and the chances of that are about nil.
Regarding the minority speaking loudest, that's probably how we get ourselves into so many problems in this country, the minority recommending unnecessary changes in the name of the majority, without the consent of the majority, whilst claiming some form of necessary requirement exists to do so .....

I would prefer we kept BST all the year round. This was tried from 1968 to 1971. It was very successful but the tabloid press mounted a campaign to publicise serious morning accidents. In fact, there were fewer accidents in the lighter evenings, saving lives overall, but the press forgot to mention this. Because of the media pressure the government gave in and reverted to the present system. Now, from what I have read (some of) the tabloids are blaming Scottish farmers for forcing the government to change; but it was the tabloids not the farmers.0

I think it is a move to synchronise with the EU.
We should start a campaign similar to Save our British Sausage.
We could call it SOCKS.
The EU (of which the UK is a member) already has 3 different time zones, or many more if you include France's overseas departments.0
