Tesco Mobile Phone Shops - Convert a free £250 voucher into £500!

Just wanted to let you know, I am going to be purchasing a new mobile phone contract from one of these new Tesco Mobile Phone shops that have been popping up around the country at their larger Tesco Extra stores...

They are currently offering a £250 Tesco Clubcard Voucher is you take out a contract on some selected phones with a £30 a month price plan over 24 months. Which in its own right isn't a bad deal, but can probably be beaten if you shop around.

BUT...

Tesco are currently offering the Clubcard Double Reward Promotion and allowing you to double the £250 voucher value in selected departments. The phone shop has advised me that if I take the voucher to the Customer Service (which they give you at the time of taking out the phone), they will double the voucher value to spend in the applicable departments that are in the Clubcard Promotion.

I am going tonight to get Samsung Wave mobile phone which is a smart phone with apps, email and GPS on it! I don't think it is the very latest phone, but quite recent and got this on a 24 month contract with 600 minutes, Unlimited Texts and Internet.

I have been shopping around all weekend and no other offer seems to be as good as this...

It turns a £720 contract over 24 Months into being £220!

This is a brilliant deal, my mum currently has a contract with Tesco and I think she has found them to be really good. Do you know how soon you have to use your doubled-up clubcard vouchers? Just thinking £500 could take a while to get through!

Isn't it a £250 Tesco voucher as in a giftcard, as opposed to Clubcard vouchers?

Might just be me but when it looks too good to be true it's always worth double checking!

It is not necessarily on Tesco Mobile in this offer, the mobile phone contract I was looking at was on O2, their new mobile phone shops seems to sell phones for all the networks and several of the networks are included in this promotion.

They are directly competing with the likes of Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U on the high street.

I think the £250 is valid for several months, but if you double the value it will only be valid until the 5th December, as it falls into the Tesco Double Clubcard reward scheme then.

I am intending on using the voucher on Clothing, Electricals and Toys for Xmas Shopping.

If you decide to double the value, you need to tell the cashier on Customer Services what departments you use the voucher in.

I saw a leaflet relating to this in store yesterday but i'm sure it was a £250 gift card, not a clubcard voucher :undecided

I've just phoned my local store, PEEL CENTRE in Bradford and they have confirmed it is just a Tesco giftcard and you CAN NOT convert it to double up vouchers.

So just be careful.

I am heading over to Tesco after work and will be having an argument with them if I have been mislead.

I have not got confused or anything, the sales guy in the store definitely told me I could double the voucher to £500 at Customer Services as I previously posted. I am just hoping he wasn't just saying that yesterday to try and get me to take the contract out there and then.

I'll update you all later with an update...

If I can't get this offer, back to the drawing board to try and find a good deal, I hate mobile phone shopping.

Back from Tesco and yes you guys were right that the £250 voucher is a gift voucher and NOT a Clubcard Reward Voucher that can be doubled in value.

Not very happy that I was misguided, complained at the customer service desk and seems several other people in my store concerned were told the same thing yesterday.

I might still go for the offer as £250 gift voucher is very good, but I have held off for the moment and currently trolling the websites to find a phone and deal that suits me.

Sorry if I got anyones hopes up or wasted your time.

if i were you i would get the manager or supervisor of the store and go and talk to the salesman in the phone shop...see if anything happens from there!

Would be a nice deal if they did them instore and get a £250 giftcard on top of that!

Just found this thread whilst doing a search. I'm after getting the Iphone4 deal that Tesco are doing (£349 upfront then £20 a month for a 12 month contract - 250 mins, unlimited texts and 1GB)

I've noted that Topcashback offer £35 cashback plus 1000 clubcard vouchers. Does anyone know if it's better to get this phone instore? Are there any better cashback/voucher/giftcard offers at the moment? I don't normally shop in Tesco.
