Smelly mouse wee....Help please!!

aarrgghhh we have been having a mouse problem and have long last got ridden of them (we think!!...*fingers crossed*)

The trouble is they have been in my airing cupboard (makes me cringe ) and now the wooden slates on the shelves really smell and I'm sure it is the mouse wee.

I've scrubbed with star drops but I can still smell it...what do you think I should do now?

I really want to get all my sheets and towels in there but cant until I can totally clean it properly.

Has anyone any ideas?

Wipe down the slats with a solution of bio washing powder, then rinse with some vinegar.

Once done, you could make some lavender satchets to put in the airing cupboard by filling some old odd socks with some lavender pot pourri and tying with a ribbon.

As Queenie says but instead of lavender sachets I'd use a few drops of peppermint oil on cotton wool balls, not only will this nuteralise any lingering smell but it will also prevent any further re-infestation as rodents don't like it!
You'll need to refresh the oil on the balls about once a fortnight for it to be effective but it is not expensive & available from anywhere which sells aromatherapy oils : Holland & Barrett, Body shop etc.

    HTH;)

  • Thank you both very much I'm going to collect some bio on the way to collect the children from school and then get busy before tea.

One of my daughters dislikes the smell of lavender so I think I'll give the peppermint ago...especially as it may put them off coming back.

:) Heres to a delicious smelling cupboard
