Do I need a new contract?

Hi
I have been working for the same company for approx 2 years.
About 5 months ago I reduced my hours (at my request) from 40 to 25 per week.
I have not received a new contract of employment - despite asking.
I know that my working hours are mutually accepted but I would like to have this in writing and in particular clarification of holidays.
This year 2010 I had taken some hols when full time and the rest were allocated on a p/t basis so I really couldn't work this out. HR told me a figure that seemed fair.
Am I entitled to ask for a new contract detailing this for working the new hours?

yes but as you have been working these hours for over 5 months now custom and practise will most likely have occured and you will have implied terms of contract.
You can ask but I wouldn't be that bothered about itThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

Have you had a letter confirming your new hours/pay/holiday etc? I reduced from full time to part time (35 to 21 hours) this year and although my original contract hasn't been altered (it even has me in my initial job role and department) this letter has the effect of superseding my contract. As do the ones I've received telling me about a change in job role/salary increases etc.We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

contract will have been established by any communications along with you working new hours and getting paid at the new rate.

Yes and you are also entitled to ask for the moon on a stick. But you must not expect to get either....

It is hard to get a company to focus on putting contract changes in writing - if the HR department is stretched, then your new contract will be low priority. But there is nothing to stop you writing your own letter to record the change - and keep a copy. Bear in mind if you do this that it is better to look at it as a variation of conditions rather than a new contract.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
