DD has had her school photo delivered
The size is 10cm x 7cm and we cant seem to find any nice looking photo frames to put it in
10cm x 8cm is the usual size and we have many nice frames of the clear glass with aluminum variety that we bought from John Lewis
Why o why cant they be printed standard size
Does anybody know of a place to find nice 10 x 7 frames

I am really surprised they have printed them at 10x7 because, like you say, the standard size is 10x8. We needed an unusual size and ended up going to a picture framers and they made one up for us. The only thing I can think of is to buy the 10x8 frame and centralise it with some white card behind it (or whatever the background colour is). This will leave a little down either side but it shouldn't show too much if the background colour is matched.0

I've noticed that school photos are non-standard size. I've always thought that it was to discourage copying.
If you scan the picture and print it out at the same size, the copies won't fit a standard frame, leaving white stripes down the sides. You could go back to the original photographer who would, no doubt, be able to produce a standard size print for a price.
Of course, if you are good at computer image manipulation, you could copy the print and chop a slice off the top and/or bottom and resize to create the correct boundary measurements. (Not legal because you don't own the copyright, of course).
Alternatively cut a suitably sized stiff paper masking frame to put over the print and behind the glass so that the picture has a white interior frame all round it.0 -
I used to have the same problem. Initially when my 2 were younger they actually did a frame of the right size but they don't now. How I got round it was to buy a bigger frame and then get a mount for over the picture, Wilkinson's do some good reasonable priced ones. They used to do ones in various colours and sizes. If practice makes perfect, and nobody is perfect....................................
