SECC to City Centre - walk or taxi?
I'm going to a gig next month at SECC and I want to stay in a hotel in city centre. I was hoping for advice from anyone as to whether it's an option to walk back to City Centre after gig as I'm sure the taxi queues will be horrendous. Also would it be relatively safe? Thanks in advance

You can get a train from the SECC into town, check on scotrails' website for timetable.
It is walkable (reckon no more than 25min), but depending on weather it may not be a nice walk. Your other option is to get a bus back into town - head over to argyll street from the covered walkway at the SECC (same for train)0 -
The trains don't run all night so make sure you check when the gig finishes.
I live right next to the SECC and it takes between 25 and 35 mins to walk into the city centre from my flat. You could call for a private hire to pick you up from somewhere near (but not at the SECC) - for example, India Quay or Yen.
Also, the City Inn is five minutes walk (if that) from the SECC. Sometimes they have deals on (last year my parents in law stayed there and it was £50 for B&B) so that might be worth a look if you've not booked already.0 -
You would be better to get train walkway leads straight from secc to station it is only 2 stops. Walk would take probably about 20 mins if your not familiar with the area i would go with the train most gigs finish before the last train.0

I never seem to see any trains when I come out of a gig. We usually walk to Argyle street then get a bus outside Mo's. Usually the number 63. Sometimes if it's a nice night we walk further, but usually jump on a bus, or keep an eye out for a black cab,to get to the pubs quicker lol. I've always felt safe.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0

stayed in Glasgow a few years ago and went to see Rush....at the SECC...not too bad a walk into the centre from there, we stayed in a hotel at the end of saucihaul street (not the city centre end) and it was an even shorter walk to the hotel after the gig.I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0
