We're staying in a caravan on Mersea Island next week, will probably visit the zoo one day, but were wondering about other stuff to do for the family (2 boys aged 9 & 11) and Mum and Dad (whose not too mobile) as well as the 2 family dogs........ Which beaches will be open to dogs this time of year?

Thanks

    Hi

Coopers Beach on Mersea Island is open to dogs, also a big green for them to run around.

The zoo is lovely but quite hilly so sensible shoes are a must!!!

Colchester Leisure swimming pool is very popular with ten pin bowling next door.

You also have the Hollytrees toy museum which is free, Colchester castle (not sure how much this is), Colchester Castle Gardens is nice for a picnic/kick about with a football etc.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Miranda, we're actually staying at Coopers Beach (for the second time) and loved it the first time. The Castle sounds interesting for the lads too ;)
