I'm with Powergen.
I put in the number of units I have used since Nov 2005 to date with an estimate of Nov usage added to make 12 months and the comparison sights said I was currently paying £582 but I'm not I'm paying £780. I checked all bills to ensure correct units. Why is this.

Does your £780 include an element for paying back a debit balance?0

Do you have the exact plan selected on the comparison site? A lot of companies have different plans with similar names. Some seem to have the same named plan but with different tarifs for new and existing customers.

Are you sure its energy online that your with? You can get standard tariffs and pick your bills up off the internet - Find out the exact name of the product your on and compare with the one that your being offered.
Make sure that the site your using is upto date as powergen used to offer 13% discount for Energy online and now its only 11%.
Not explaining the difference but it could / would go towards this as well.
Are you on a capped offer and there offering you online based billing on the comparison site? Capped prices are slightly higher.0 -

Customers who signed up to Energyonline before Dec 05 used to get a fixed discount (£43 before Aug 2005 and £50 between Aug 05 and Mar 06) and used to pay a standing charge but just had a single tier pricing structure. This changed in March when the discount became 11% and the standing charge was removed and replaced with a two tier pricing structure (to bring it inline with their other prices). Customers who signed up between Dec 05 and June 06 would have been on a different version of Energyonline on which you got a 12% discount and had the two tier pricing stucture. After the Sept 06 price increase all EOL have been put on the same prices and receive an 11% discount.0 -
I have my bills here and the charges say:
Electricity - Energy online
rate from Sept 06
Primary units 17.660 per kwh
Secondary unit 10.260 per kwh
Gas charges
Primary units 3.559 per kwh
secondary units 2.830 per kwh
Can't seem to find on Powergen site the rates without going through quotes~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

This is going back a couple of months but didn't energy online prices change in June 06 - I know all EOL customers are on the 2 tier 11% discount now - But the original discount you have as 12 - I thought was 13% (1% Isn't a huge amount - Under the basis 9% Dual Fuel + DD and 4% Manage account online)
I know there was a few versions hence the September 06 - Flat rate across all.
As for the original OP - What area are you in (Swalec?) I can check prices for you tomorrow when I am in work to see what your currently on - I'll check if there is a cheaper tariff that you could possibly be on hence the difference.0 -
yep SWALEC I will PM you my Post Code.
Thanks for your help.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)
