Nationwide mortgages - how quick?

I've applied for a mortgage with Nationwide and just wondered if anyone has any idea how long these things usually take. I realise it is a how long is a piece of string question but thought someone may have used them recently.
The property I am buying is a repo so I am hoping the broker pushes it through and keeps on to of Nationwide (so to speak).

I keep being told about two weeks. I also learnt that they don't authorise the valuation to go ahead unless you pass their credit checks which is always nice to know!
  • Thanks - fingers crossed it will not take any longer. I do know the mortgage broker said he would keep on top of it and keep ringing as he is aware that the property is a repo and he is also linked to the EA im buying the property from.

    From your other post........
I sold my property in August 2009. The house was in negative equity and I have an arrangement with the mortgage company to pay back a certain amount each month, overall I owe 14k. There is a chance I may be given some money in a few months time, but it wouldnt be enough to cover the whole 14k, this is probably just me wishful thinking but has anyone ever offered a lump sum (a lesser amount than owed) to pay it off?

I wonder if this may come to the NW's attention.........

It will because i've put it on the application form. Should it be a problem? The payments I am currently making towards NR (which are above what they ask for) is recorded as a mortgage on my credit report. It's all been declared.

With the valuation being payable on application and non refundable I hope they order the valuation soon as im on tender hooks :)

  • It took just under 2 weeks for us from application to offer. Valuation was booked after about 3 or 4 days of application.
