Neck Massagers

My mother has got a trapped nerve in her neck and I was wondering if any of the massage devices would help. If so would a specialist neck massager or a hand held one be better? When she first started with it I used to massage her neck and she said that helped, but now I no longer live with her I was wondering if one of those massagers would help.

I have had trapped nerves and found that massage can help, but it needs to be quite intense and really hands on. I really doubt machine-massagers would do the trick without your mother having to push really really strongly into the machine and this would not be comfortable. I'd say see a professional massuse.

Otherwise do yoga. This has helped me alot. Try to find a teacher who knows their stuff (some yoga teachers pass by doing a weekened 'course', others train for years in India...) it may take some time for it to pass but usually works for me within days.
  • I have tried some oriental massage a long time ago at this place: http://art.massageland.co.uk and that really works, I can't remember how much it cost me, about 5,6 pounds every time I think. hope it works for you.

Our local FE college teaches complementary therapies and they are always on the look-out for people to have treatments from the students. There's a very small charge and the students are always well supervised.
