Could be debt free at end of year

I recently posted my SOA on here and my partner and I owe just over £32,000. A family member asked us if we wanted to buy his house for £80,000 which has recently been valued at £120,000 and £125,000. With outstanding debts of £32,000 we did not think that we could get a mortgage so we decided to find out if we could get a mortgage. We went to see two different Financial Advisors and they quoted that the mortgage payments inclusive of insurance policies for various things the payments would be around £602.00 to £650.00 a month. After deciding against it and letting the family member know that we would not be purchasing the property as we could not afford the repayments and we would just be getting more into debt he was fine with this decision.

In the very near future the house is going up for sale and the family member has informed us once the house is sold we will be getting a large proportion from the sale as part of our inheritance. With this we are able to pay off all our debts. We cant believe that we are going to be debt free!! I am so pleased that for once the future does look good.

The thought of having quite a bit of surplus income every month will be good and I can start saving for once in my lifetime.

This family member truly is a remarkable person who has answered all my prayers.

I feel like I have been hit on the head with a sledge hammer!! my partner and I have started to plan what we are going to be saving for. We will be saving the £500 payment to payplan that we pay every month. Since posting my SOA on the board a couple of weeks ago we have made cut backs and I feel better already.

That is so lovely to hear. What's even better is to hear your plans to save. That's what i'm going to be like, I won't go back to squandering money. The thought of savings mounting up sounds great. Really pleased for you!

I just wanted to update everyone the family member has decided to stay in the property therefore the family member is not selling. I have reviewed the situation and to be honest in the best interest of the family member its good for them ro remain there for the time being.

I am therefore still paying £500 to Payplan whcih I still want to pay and get rid of the debt, it just might be a bit longer now.

    cheers
