My car had work performed on it a few months ago under warranty, only for the garage to tell me last week that I needed to pay them and then reclaim the money from the warranty company. It was more of an LBA as it asked for payment within 7 days, so I emailed them to ask for cheque details (who to make it payable to) or BACS details and a copy of my last service invoice as I needed that to claim off the warranty. I got an email back saying the invoice would be in the post, and it arrived a couple of days later. I still hadn't got any payment details so emailed them back again asking for them but no reply. I also tried calling them but it was always engaged. Now I've got a county court action letter (though the post code was incorrect so the post office had to do a bit of detective work which delayed it further) and have sent another email asking for payment details and called again but still engaged. I'm not trying to avoid this bill, I would like to pay it, but I have tried and now am I going to have pay their court charges on top?

Edit: actually visiting the garage is not really convenient as I've since moved a considerable distance away from the area

    Write, do not e-mail.

To the Chief Executive if necessary.

I agree with RAS, but keep copies and send it all recorded delivery, then you've got a paper trail to use as proof. Print off all the emails and stuff too.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

I've printed the emails and sent them by recorded delivery. Am I liable for the court costs as well?

Is this sort of thing normal. Whenever I have had work done under warranty, I have just taken my car to the garage, had the work done and driven away, the garage have sorted the payment out with the warranty company.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
