Mobile chipshop van

what are the rules and regulations if you have one of those burger vans. What I would like to think about is a fish and chip shop van so you can go around villages, fairs etc.
now, what are the regulations for stopping in the street for say an hour or 2 on an evening to sell fish and chips. Im sure the council will want a slice of the profits by means of taxing you somehow. Or can you freely just go around and sell your wares.
Lets say I want to go to the seasie for example and pull up on the sea front and sell my fish and chips. Would the local council in that area move me on or would i have to pay a tax to them as well to sell.

You need a licence from the Council, there is an online booklet from the food standards agency here about setting up a catering business

plus i reckon you'll need food hygiene certificate and all the usual things they ask for.0

Sorry I don't have any advice to offer, but this just reminded me about when I was younger we had a mobile fish and chip shop van come round the village.
This van was different as you would go into the van to be served. It all looked like a proper fish and chip shop inside, you would never know you were inside a van. It is like one of those mobile library's so it wasn't a trailer.
I have never seen one since. They did the best chips and always got customers on a Friday / Saturday night.
Makes a change from an ice cream van.

Don't want to rain on your parade, but there is another issue. In many town centre areas, competition is fierce and there are 'van gangs' who demand protection money."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0

as has been said ,the council will have to inspect the van and then grant a licence which may or may not have restrictions placed on it,ie.times/places.
the main thing is to make sure you sell the best quality products at a reasonable price,
I wish you luck as I miss the van that came around where I used to liveI

Wasn't he that Belgian 'Jean Claude' gadgey in the film Kickboxer?
You will certainly need to watch out for him if you don't want to end up battered!0 -
I don't know about going round villages but I think the fairs and fetes are usually tendered for, and as for parking up on the front at the seaside I don't think the local chippys will be very pleased and would probably report you to the local planning dept.
I know someone (a few years ago) who bought a snack van and couldn't make any money because he wasn't allowed to park up in any layby and sell.
