Why don't you buy her some nice make up from a brand that she likes? In Debenhams you can ask the people that work in the make-up section for their advice. They may know some sophisticated brands and you can often get deals where if you spend a certain amount you get a free make-up bag or something..
L'occitane, Debenhams and the Body shop are good for make up
I'm certain the assistants would give you some help if you asked them.. and as for clothing - I wouldn't bother because she may want to return it. Us women are fussy with our clothes. 0 -
What about a case to keep all her mae up and bits in like this

No 7 in Boots is a nice brand and usually has nice gift sets and free gifts.
Hope this helps a bit0 -
Whats your budget?
What about places like HQ Hair, Want The Look, Look Fantastic, Feel Unique and etc. They all have quite good discounts on salon brands (makeup/beauty through to hair care) and could make out you spent more then you really did.
I think TIGI seems to be 50% off everywhere but TK Maxx also. Otherwise Kerastase is seen as a pretty luxiourious brand, try the Nectar Thermique, any of the hair masques or the nutritive treatments.
Skincare wise what about the brand Bliss? made by the same people who made Fitflops and its main claims (cannot vouch for them) are all about slimming. Fat-girl-Slim is a best selling boyd moisturiser. Mamma Mio is another well loved brand, think Debenhams sell them too but the full range can be bought online.
Makeup wise, try one of the new eye makeup pallets from Mac (if you have that kind of budget) they are £30 each but limited edition, always seem to run out by mid December but are so beautiful and the quality is second to none.0
