0% BNPL Problem

Hi all,

I am hoping someone can help me with a dispute I have with Clysdale Finance.

I took out a 1 year 0% BNPL agreement through Jessops Camera shop with Clysdale for a camcorder.

I have a DD mandate copy. I was told that I would prior to the one year, have a letter sent to me asking me whether I wanted to pay the full amount off (£540.96) or to continue with the DD with interest. I gave Jesops my account details for DD purposes at the time.

Obviosuly the year has come and gone, I didn't remeber to check, I have had no letters and finally when I have got in touch with them, they now want £834 (interest + late charges).

I would have paid the full amount off when the letter before the 1 year expiry period came, I was relying on that letter, I thought that was the whole point of the letter notification they ought to have sent me?

I have a really good credit rating yet I do not want to pay the extra £300 ! It's not fair and it's not right. They haven't even got my account details on their system saying that Jessops did not send them and that somehow this also is my problem and I should take this up with Jessops and they say all my letters were returned to them as non-deliverable, I haven't moved since. I bet they have updated their system with an incorrect address but again I need to take that up with Royal Mail!

Any advice on what I could do?

I feel the whole scenario is injust but they will not listen and I am afraid this is going to ruin my credit rating.

I have had the same experience with other finance companies on BNPL deals unfortunately. The 3 I have done, not a single one has sent a reminder, despite saying they would. Fortunately I have always marked down a date a month before it was due on my calendar so I have always paid them off properly. I sympathise with your problem, but it is also your responsibility to remember to pay.
Personally I doubt their non-deliverable story, I have a suspicion that they just don't send out letters, but I would have thought there wasn't much you can do about it, sadly.
