Hi,
I finished Uni during the summer
and was just temping to get a bit of extra cash before i go travelling. i'm living back at my parents at the moment, so no huge monthly bills or outgoings.
However the temping suddenly stopped and until I find something else i'm stuck for cash. Would I qualify for JSA?
If I did get JSA what implications would this have for the future?
Thanks
D

I've applied for JSA (not yet received anything though) on the advice of CAB, who told me that I was entitled to claim.
I would suggest that you go to the Job Centre and they will tell you what you are entitled to.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Hi,
If you've paid enough NI contributions, you will be entitled to Contributions-Based JSA, whether from a temp job and/or part-time working while you were studying. Check on the https://www.entitled-to.com website to see. Importantly, you're usually only entitled to it from when you tell the JobCentre you're available for work, so get cracking! There should be a JobCentre Plus number on that site - you need to go through a call centre and answer lots of questions first rather than just walk into your local JobCentre.

Hiya,
I dont think you will be entitled to Conts based JSA as i dont think you would have paid enough NI Conts due to being in uni, only the last two tax yrs are taken into consideration. You need to apply for JSA Income based, you have to be actively looking for work and can work anything up to 16 hrs although this will reduce your entitlement to benefit. All others in your household and their earnings will be take into consideration to assses your entitlement to benefit. Hope that helpsWorking on my debts..I have set myself a goal to get things sorted by xmas 2007.
