honestly, don't worry about the credit check, they have to do it for faraud purposes, but they are not looking at your worthiness for credit - you are not applying for any!
I am sure you will get through. LLoyds did one too, i'm sure they all do!Proud to be dealing with my debts

I applied for a CO-OP Cashminder account a couple of months ago and the woman on the phone said she could see no problems with me getting the account even though I had a bad credit rating and had defaulted on my Halifax current account. A week later I phoned up and was told my application had not been accepted and the following day I got a letter confirming this. I also applied for the Natwest Step Account online and was refused that as well. I then went into the Lloyds TSB to open a Basic Cash Account and was accepted straight away. The woman in the Lloyds also said that they will review my account after a year and look at upgrading it to a current account.0

Ive got a cashminder account ans it is great to have that debit card facility on it. I found they took some time to respond and they were quite strict with id production. For example one of my utility bills didnt have my second initial and they wouldn't accept it. My nearest branch was 30 miles away! But eventually I got it. I would give them a week and I hope you're successful.

Have to agree with this as we had a similar problem. We had only been married for 4 weeks when we needed to open one and no one at the branch knew if they could accept our marriage certificate as ID for my wifes married name. All her bills and ID were still in her maiden name.0 -
I have just applied for a HALIFAX Easy Cash account. I was told, in the branch, that this would not be 'credit checked'. I have to apply by post including a copy of photo ID, plus a copy of a utility bill. I assume that that will be used to check my name/address against the electoral role - my credit rating is cr*p.
I am also, in order to hedge my bets, applying for a Nat West 'step' account and a Co-op account (The Co-op account was the most highly reccomended).I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
