I measure out the water I need to boil. I also have a stove top kettle which
works out slightly cheaper than an electric one.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
I have an extra large flask which I bought in France this summer. It has a wonderful kinda pump action to pour from it. We fill it up at breakfast every day and it literally lasts me all day, for coffee.. I reckon it saves a fortune as I used to boil the kettle about 8 times during the day!!! ( and that was just for me). Any left over water will still be very hot at night and we use it to add to cooking or to cook veggies etc.

I've been putting excess boiled water into a flask for years. One or two people consider me a bit eccentric because of this & other moneysaving habits I think. But the difference between them & me is that my careful ways over the years have allowed me to avoid debt & have a healthy bank balance. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
this is a bad bad idea. only boil the amount you actually need. boiling water removes the oxygen from it, reboiling obviously removes even more oxygen which leaves the water tasting bad. for the optimum cup of tea always use fresh cold water and only boil what you need0

Of course, if you don't HAVE a flask, you won't save any money by running out to buy one for this purpose.
I read, somewhere, that an electric kettle is about the most efficient means of heating water - the energy is directly applied to the water. So, I tend to boil cooking water in my kettle, then pour it into the pot on the hob.:beer:0
