Hey IA,
i don't post very much at all (a bit shy..) - I get my inspiration from reading others diaries.
Yours is one of the diaries I read for inspiration and it is just that - truely. It's so amazing to see such committment to getting your debts down and you are so open to sharing your journey with others that it seriously inspires them to do the same.... I personally would like to thank you for sharing - it's helped me in many ways: I'm getting my debts down, concentrating on the future (instead of dwelling on the bad stuff - I too lost my mum young), having fun (getting back into playing violin again), doing lots of charity work for the Samaritans and taking all the advice I can get from logging onto this site and reading other people's journeys to lighten the load of my own journey. So - thank you!
You are lucky to have such a great supportive husband (and fellow MSE'ers) and beautiful bright alert daughters around you, but as I say you get what you deserve in life and you certainly deserve such an amazing family and support from others! I hope one day I can be as fantastic a mum as you are.....
I was also (like others here) truely moved by the selfless act of Toto. My usual cynical self is slowly being replaced by someone who is gradually believing in the human race again, and it's a lot to do with places like this.
Hope this isn't a weird message, just wanted to let you all know how you all make me feel - it's a good thing in my own recovery journey that's for sure.....
Oh and IA - and don't forget to take the £10 Egg money off your total debt too (I don't *think" you've done that yet)Debt at lightbulb moment: £44,220. Paid off to date: £27,634 (62%) :j
Halifax CC (0% 10 months): £9,000; Zopa Loan = £7,586([STRIKE]36[/STRIKE] 16 payments to go) TOTAL = £16,5860 -
Hi IA
Just in relation to barclays, you say its 19.9%.
have you asked barclays about their new flexi-card? They either give you a card with 14.9% APR but if you pay more than 10% of the o/st balance each month the interest drops to 9.9% APR - think you could manage over 10% payments on previous form?
Otherwise, like me, they say oh no you don't qualify for the 14.9% but we can give you 19.9% and if you pay more than 10% of your o/st balance your lower interest rate will be 14.9%. So as I always pay more than 10% anyway essentially my interest rate is now 14.9%. Better than the 20.9% they had been charging me. Also, and I'm not sure about this, but if the decision is based on how you run your current barclaycard then a credit search may not actually be necessary as there is no 'new' credit involved??
PS love the diary log in most days to follow it. delighted for you about your mum's pension money and your brother letting you keep it all. That'll make a right dent in Barclays, eh?0 -

Barclaycard don't seem to like me.. I've had a couple late payments through no fault of my own and now they refuse to do anything for me... Ah well.. it'll be gone soon enough and I won't have to worry about it...Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Had a wonderfully kind Toto offer us her drum kit so we didn't have to spend money on buying one (which to be honest we can't really afford)
Learnt I've got £260 coming from a pension my mum had that we didn't know about
Our gas and electric DD is being cut to £55 a month
I saw K roll over for the first time
Ste's enjoying his job
EVERYONE'S HAPPY

Would you like to speak to the man in charge, or the woman who knows whats happening?0 -
Morning all.. Ste and I had a lovely night last night.. Ste made fajitas which were gorgeous and then we sat and chatted while having a drink. Was really nice to just sit and spend some time together and normally we're both doing other things! lol!
My o2 bill went out today.. they didn't bother sending me a bill because I didn't use it last month. £6! Hurrah!
and it's D-Day for citi tomorrow!! Weird to think that this month we'll have had a new sofa, drum kit, amp inc a trip down to Hatfield in the car AND still been able to pay citi off..... Life is full of suprises.....Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
