I use this already, recommend it! Adobe is so annoying when it takes 10 seconds to open something.
  • Have you tried the latest version of adobe acrobat (v7 upwards)? It has a small tsr module (or service - I never bothered to look into it...)

Anyway - that starts up when you log on to windows so it only takes a few seconds to open a pdf document now...

  • Adobe acrobat is bloatware, pure and simple! I wouldn't want it running constantly in the background! I can guareentee that 90% of my computer crashes pre getting foxit were from trying to open PDF files ! Highly recommend foxit!

    This is a good program!!!

Using an old 4gb drive on another emergancy computer at present due to a computer failure on the newer unit.

Adobe was to big a program to load on this drive, with everything on there I needed.

This program is great for it's small size.

All I want to do is to read a pdf file. this does the job!

I do agree Adobe is bloatware.

Sorry - but I don't entirely agree... yes, adobe is a large program but if your computer is crashing so often reading a pdf file - then there is something wrong with your setup/software generally. You'd be surprised how many people get strange results with adobe because of display driver problems (rendering probs) or even the browser you are using - adobe acrobat integrates with the main web browsers such as firefox/netscape oh and internet explorer (bleurgh!)

I do however quite like foxit - though I don't use it because I like the web integration and the ability to view 3d adobe models... but if you really want to save disk space and you have a fast internet connection - you can use an online reader such as this one http://view.samurajdata.se/

But to be honest - hard disks are so cheap nowadays - whats the point?
