need more time

hi every1, i would really like to have more time with my 3 kids and partner as at the moment i am working for an employer too much ,i have looked into benefits but not sure of the best way to possibly give up work or work less for most money.i believe if you give up your job u cant claim income support so is working 16 hours a better way ?:beer: :beer: :beer: , help would be very much appreciated. thanks.

    I believe that if you resign from a job you cannot get JSA. I don't think you'd be entitles to IS either.

    Is it not better to speak to your employer about reducing the number of hours or looking for a new job rather than look to the state for handouts? Sorry but I don't see spending more time with family as a legitimate reason for giving up work. Otherwise, we'd all do it!

    does your partner work, if so you can get tax credits in claming for the both of you cacluclated from his income if your not working

  • I would like more time at home too ...had not really thought that I could just give up and claim benefits ....what an inspired idea:confused:
    If you are really dead set on doing it..best to be sacked as you can then claim JSA...at least that will free up your job for someone looking to get off benefits! To answer your question though...yes best to work at least 16 hours - your joint income will be used when calculating tax credits.
    I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)
