    Beware of this.
Usually a sharp intake of breath, followed by shock absorbers/brakes/tyres ect need doing.
I was told in 1984 that my shock absorbers needed replacing at a not cheap price,or my mk3 escort would fail the MOT.
1990,and 7 mots later I sold it with original shocks intact.
They don't change over the years...

    Thanks for the warning :)

The only time I ever went into a Kwik-Fit centre was a few years ago to have my breaks checked (I knew there was a problem) and the quote they gave me was around £300 to fix them

I said thanks but no thanks and went to see a friend who bought the parts I needed from Unipart (or similar) for around £30 and fixed them for me for the price of a drink!

I was assuming that the voucher would be a saving just for the cost of the MOT (you don't need to leave the car there for repairs if it fails) but if as you say, they will fail it on things that don't really need doing then it will cost more in the long run as you'd need to pay elsewhere for a re-MOT :(

I'm not sure that Kwik-Fit are any more likely to falsely fail your vehicle than any other garage which also repairs cars. Others on here have recommended using local council Vehicle Testing Stations, or those run by bus companies or other large concerns, which do the testing but do NOT repair - they clearly have no incentive to fail cars falsely.

My wife's car's last service & MOT was at a quick fit place (not Kwik-Fit, but a local one) and it passed with no extra work required - which was a fairly big surprise to us given its age and mileage - so they can be completely scrupulous. And that MOT was half-price along with a very reasonably priced service.

I always used to find Kwik Fit reasonable in the past but in last 6 months I've asked them for quotes for front discs and pads and a new exhaust. On both occassions they've been over 100% dearer than the cheapest and 25% more than the next dearest!

Something seems to have gone sadly wrong, with the 'Kwik Fit Fitters'.
