Hi,
I do feel for the younger generation - jobs are tough to find however don't give up - what about babysitting or as someone else suggested tutoring. What was your best A level subject? Offer that an GCSE level - put a notice in schools or colleges?
Wonder if your CV needs an help - have you considered asking for it to be reviewed - think job centre would do it but also my local library service does it. Another thing is to volunteer - it often leads to work.
What subject are you studying and rough area - might help to focus on specific opportunities - example is my employer would snap up a bright IT person who would work around Uni hours - its in London however0 -
Hi, I was in a very similar position to you at uni last year, permanently over my overdraft limit so my cards were stopped... I know how stressful it can be, but please don't let it worry you to the point where it effects your studies. Please remember that this IS a temporary issue - you don't have credit cards or demanding loans, so when you finish uni you will be able to slowly dig your way back into the black.
One tip is to go shopping at M&S and Waitrose 20 mins before they close as they sell off their stock at ridiculously low prices compared to Tesco or Asda - 19p for a loaf of bread in Waitrose 4 days before the best before, and 50p for a 2 person meal in M&S.
Second big tip - DON'T tell job agencies you're a student!! NEVER, EVER, EVER! They will throw your CV in the bin before you've even left the shop! Tell them you look after a child during the day so you need a full time evening job, and that you've been unemployed for 2 years, anything! I was told that to my face by people in Hays. I took my degree off my CV, told them I had been unemployed because of the credit crunch etc, and I got a job in a call centre at 14,000 within a week! Crazy. I felt bad lying to the woman in the shop, especially when she pulled such a sad face when I told her I was unemployed, but it worked and that's all that matters.
Good luck, I hope you find something.0 -

Do you play an instrument you could go busking with? Have you thought about offering tutoring for kids?
Our flat is dead cheap, one bed flats in my area are £375 and our two bed place is only £400 - it was reduced cos it was on the market so long. My partners a designer so the second bedroom is his studio.Hi, I was in a very similar position to you at uni last year, permanently over my overdraft limit so my cards were stopped... I have to say Ive seriously been considering this - even though Im only in uni for 4 hrs a week. I did actually have a phone interview with a job for 02 back in my first year - the job was 8hrs a week on a saturday, but when she asked what I was currently up to, and I said I was a student she said she couldn't interview me because they don't employ students!
Obviously I am slightly concerned if I do suddenly just become 'unemployed' I wouldn't really know what to say about the days I would be able to work due to uni commitments? I am kind of tempted to give it a go, especially seeing as I technically only left my last job at the end of August (I worked over the summer with my mom's firm).surreybased wrote: »Hi,

I don't think Id be any good at tutoring (I didnt exactly get great grades) and I dislike kids - although my area I live next to an old peoples home so there isn't actually many kids near me.
I have renewed my CV in the last few weeks and I'm hoping it looks better than before but Ive run out of jobs to send it too/
Im studying criminal and community justice and youth justice, but there isn't the jobs in that field - all the jobs are being cut by 20% in the sector - I emailed my local YOT who said any jobs they had would be listed online - there has been none listed for the past year or so, and all Probation training schemes have been suspended.
To be honest though Im willing to do anything, even if its stacking shelves or cleaning toilets anything to be able to earn some money.
I live in South Wales where unemployment is pretty darn high at the moment.MFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11
