we are getting those advent box things this year. 24studio have some and I think Argos and definatly Lakeland. They are wooden and shaped like santa/penguin/snowman. each day has it's own box for baubles/choc/dolly dress/toothbrush/ love the decoration idea, might use that for xmas eve... something with thier name on.
we sprinkle talc on the floor in their room and walk through it to make 'santas footsteps'
have a lovly one

look out for the Raymond Briggs 'father christmas and father christmas goes on holiday', they are cartoon style. Our boys used to love them.
Play christmas music whilst putting up the tree and decorations.
when we had a white xmas one year, we were throwing potatoes onto the roof to make reindeer hoofprints! thank goodness they didnt land in the garden so little people didnt look too closely...
wish mine were still little, have today bought the 28 and 29 year old kids their advent calendars!Carolbee0 -
My kids choose a new tree ornament each every year before we put the tree up - (not so good if you like a coordinated look!). I have xmas mugs, trays, teatowels and cushion covers as well as some Christmas Teddies who only come out in December. They always get new PJ's which is lovely and we watch a film together before bedtime. Snacks for Rudolf and a drink for Santa and off to bed. Mr Sesh makes Steak Diane and then we open our gifts to each other (in peace).
Stockings on the end of beds Christmas morning then all downstairs together to open gifts.
Got quite a few xmas videos/DVD's/books and like the idea of getting them all togther in a little 'library' so will do that this year.
Didn't realise we had so many traditions until I saw this thread:o0 -
The whole extended family get together boxing day to finish off the turkey with chips and what ever cakes etc are left over.
My sister always buys her daughters new knickers to wear on Xmas day. Sometimes practical and sometimes silly but they always make sure they wear their new knickers on christmas day. The youngest is 21 this christmas and the oldest is married.
My mum makes me up my own selection box, and I have my own DD this year!
My sister always buys a special candle for xmas eve and they burn it spending the time together as a family.0 -

Thank heaven for that Queenie, everyone seems so organised spreading food for reindeers etc

Seeing as how Mum and Dad both used to have a drink of whisky and lemonade of an evening that was traditionally the drink left for Santa along with a piece of my Mum's homemade shortbread.
A new tradition for us has been going to the Zoo on Christmas Day if the weather permits. The atmosphere is lovely with the keepers wearing Santa hats and all door receipts are given to charity via gift aid for tax payers.
Its lovely to come home all chilly and smell the cooking turkey as you come in the door.
Last year I was privileged to meet an MSE user who was visiting Edinburgh, Allexie, at the Zoo eventually tracking each other down by text messages to meet on the bridge by the penguins. We had a lovely afternoon wandering about and gassing about MSE.0
