Letter to get rid of my Mint........

forever :-)

Considering i could be made redundant (nurse here) around christmas ive been paying off my cards as well as i can. so, my yorkshire bank card actually owes me £28 and i need to write to them and ask them to transfer the momey to my current account, however, ive just paid off my mint card which now is at exactly £0.00 owing.

I was wondering if anyone had any hints on phrases to use when actually asking them to close the card / account?

  • Here is the letter I sent to Mint to cancel my card. Received a cheque for the credit amount within a week. Please feel free to reuse it (remember to change the date ;) )

LOL, they didnt really make my life hell, just trying to get rid of as much as i can debt wise before possibly getting made redundant.
  • I prefer to phone them aswell as they do it while you are on the line.

Just make sure you have had 2 months with a £0 balance otherwise if they add interest on or you have overpiad by even a penny the account will stay open.

When you phone them ask for a letter confirming that the account has been closed and make sure you cancel any exisiting regular payments you may have setup on the card be it monthly or annual.

Then wait 2 months and check your credit file to make sure it's marked as settled. :)
