Hi, I just started thinking about skullcandy ear buds for my 14 year old (a day late for the amazon code, I know!) after following the link to the zavvi mega monday, and the headphones there reminded me that he is still using the ear buds that came with my W595 walkman phone (well, the ebay fakes after I trod on the originals).

I know nothing about headphones, are they all okay quality? which are likely to be the most comfortable? I don't want to spend more than £20 really, we are skint but he has no surprises at christmas and isn't really getting a present as such, just (!) a school trip abroad and a year of guitar lessons.

the skullcandy ones look good, I just want to check I won't be giving him something that sounds as rubbish as the ones he's got.

I've got a pair of Skullcandy headphones - the ones that go over the ear not in the ear, and they're really good quality. VERY expensive, but they do sound amazing!

Skullcandy are a decent make, and highly wanted too. I own several in ear and over the ear ones, brillant and they can survive the washing machine and tumble dryer (though I don't recommend it lol) HMV have some plain black earbud ones for 8.99.

I'll go to HMV for myself then, thanks (I pinched my husband's ipod ones when my son pinched my earbuds) but I think my son would appreciate the 'wow' factor of skullcandy - they're so cute! He's mentioned schoolfriends having them before, in a kind of "I'm jealous but I won't ask because you can't afford them so I'll pretend I'm happy with what I've got" kind of way.

Try also -Mymemory.co.uk-they have skullcandy headphones(courtesy of a v. kind MSE'er on here-helping me out!). Also , like other poster- HMV- also have a look at Play.com- to check out prices.
have got dd some pink skullcandy headphones (not earbuds) from Amazon.
Reviews seem to be mixed as far as I can tell-but they look cool & like your ds- my daughter always makes do and never really asks for much-so I didn't mind paying a bit more than I usually would.
    Good Luck x

Not sure if that will work, but is this the type of play mat you were looking for?

Not much cheaper on the blue, but £2 is £2, lol. A fair bit cheaper on the yellow though.

Here for the blue one at £55 delivered

    Yellow one £50 delivered

Various Ice Watch for around £50
