Sorry to hear about your wife, it must be very hard for you, especially if she is not fully aware of the situation. I hope you manage to find a solution.

I think that's all right, we had the house valued at 144k last week as part of the remortgage plan - they've asked us to go back in to chat about options but seing as the Northern Rock loan would then go up to 12% I don't think it's a brilliant idea!

DW should be back at work next week, half days first then 3/4 days the following week. Her full pay runs out on 3rd March!!!!! So assuming she does OK and doesn't break down again we should be in the clear.
I have to say she's as strong as a rock, I've heard of people being off for years with depression but she's done really well and pulled through it so quickly. She's still a bit nervy and panicky sometimes but basically back to normal. Fingers crossed.

She was OK at work today, I dropped her off and picked her up but hopefully she'll be fit for walking again soon. She's half days this week and 3/4 next week, using annual leave in the gaps. Problem is she's got 12 days to use by the start of April!!!

Our grapevine has just told us payrises are delayed for a few months, due to delays in orders. :( There goes my nice plan out the window then.

Glad your wife is getting better, not nice about the payrise though.

Insurance renewal for the car came through, £460 last year, renewal price £1678!!!!!!!
Got a new deal for £455 from Adrian Flux though, which is nice.
Tax next month as well. :(

Mortgage is down to £730 now though (£580 plus £150 for NRAM loan), not sure how long that will last now I'm on a tracker, better get paying off whilst I can!

Main issues are still spending too much on takeaways and meals out, it's tough as we don't go out in any other way so we like having a meal out once a month - won't be doing it this month as we've blown the budget on a Chinese for some friends of ours. I think I need to take out the cash from the budget for these things and stick it in a jar so we know we're not going over.

I'm going to be naughty and get a nice new bike from the cycle to work scheme, so will be losing £25 a month from my pay! DW has just had a £30 pay rise, and we should get about £30-£40 more from the tax change next month. Hopefully I'll hear about our pay rises at work soon too.

We have a new goal to work towards; if we pay off all the cards and overdraft, and maybe the shorter term loans, DW wants to go part time at work to 3 days a week - it will require me to get a pretty good pay rise this year or next though! She will then start doing some behaviourist work on her days off and hopefully start getting some money from that, with a view to do it full time eventually. :T She loves this idea so hopefully that will get her motivated to get these debts paid off!!

OK, so I'm now overpaying my minimums by around £200 a month, which is good, and I'm expecting rises in salary (me and wife) of between £80 and £120 per month to come into effect in the next 2 months.
I've signed up to the cycle to work scheme, which takes £25 a month out of that.

This leaves me with around £60+ 'spare', obviously it'd be nice to chuck it at debts, but the sharesave scheme at work has just come out, with share prices at a record low it's pretty likely that I'll at least double my money or possibly better in the next 3 years if I sign up to it!! So should I whack £50 a month into that? I could end up with £4k in 3 years time! If not I'll just take my £1800 out and walk away (having lost something like ~£100 in savings account interest?).
