I Wanna Not Have to Go to the Laundrette!!!!

My washing machine has finally gone bang!
It's 10 years old so not a bad run really.
I would really appreciate it if anyone could direct me towards any current deals?
The laundrette round here, whilst 'interesting', is not somewhere I wish to spend my time at. Last night two women were discussing the boyfriend of the elder one's daughter. Apparently he is 23 and on probation, whilst the girlfriend is 13. 13!!!!!!
eeeek, I would much prefer to watch the great world spin from my own kitchen if I possibly can!
I'm not sure how much they are, have looked online and they cary so much, so I'm thinking budget is between £300-£400, I'm just after some good recommendations that are value for money.
