Can I make jam out of tinned fruit?

Hi I've got 2 tins of mixed berries which are very tangy. I wondered if I could make jam out of them. Never made jam before and thought I could try it with these.

I borrowed a preserve book from the library and it says you can but that you should add a tablespoon of lemon juice or use jam sugar (with pectin) as tinned fruit has less pectin so won't set without it.

I am going to try it soon :)
